Crossed the Equator on 22 January 1944, Longitude 178°06'18" West. "Shellback"

Participated in Marshall Islands campaign, beginning 28 January 1944, through the eventual occupation on 5 February 1944.

Participated in the attack on Truk, Caroline islands, 16th-17th February 1944.

Participated in the assault by U.S. Naval Forces on Palau, Yap, and Woleai, Caroline Islands, from 30 March to 1 April 1944.

Participated in covering operations incident to landings on Northern New Guinea Coast at Hollandia, Wadke, and Aitape, New Guinea, by U.S. Forces from 21 April to 26 April 1944.

Participated in assault on Truk from 29 April to 1 May 1944.

Participated in bombardment of Satawan Islands Islands, (Nomoi Group) Caroline Islands, on 30 April 1944.

Participated in bombardment and occupation of Saipan and Tinian Islands (Mariana Group) from 5 June to 10 July 1944.

Participated in bombardment and occupation of Guam, (Mariana Group) from 16 June 1944 to 11 August 1944.

Participated in the First Battle of the Philippine Sea, 18-20 June 1944. (Sea-Air Battle)
