12 an old black woman Betty, who Turned out to be the mother of my patient, was blind, so much so as to render her entirely helpless and a burthen to the family, I, after examination, urged the old woman to suffer me to operate - her eyes couching, assuring her that the operation would in all probably restore her sight, to which she consented, and the operation was accordingly performed some four days afterwards. The following was filed in the cause, October 20th 1835. This deponent William Berkeley being sworn this 19th day of October 1835, in the court house of the County Court of Prince Edward, saith that the answer made by him, and sworn to on the 22d of January 1834, before Henry [Theueatt?] justice of the peace of said County - contains all he knows as it regards the suit instituted by Thomas T. Craghead against Richard Kidder Randolph and others in P. Edward County Court, and as far as he believes contains the Truth and respectfully asks of the worshipful county court of Prince Edward to receive the said answer as his deposition in said such. Sworn to before me this 19th Oct. 1835 John Rew J.P.

I Nathaniel Jones a Justice of the peace of Prince Edward County Court, do hereby send and certify to the judge of the circuit superior court of law and Chancery of said County, in pursuance of the annexed writ, a Transcript of the record & Proceedings in a suit in said County Court wherein Thompson T. Craghead is plff and Kidder Randolph & others are deft. with all things touching the same, as fully and wholly as the same before the Justices of the said County are residing.
