Articles of agreement made and entered into this 27th day of [blank] 1820 between John North executor of Robert Burton deceased, of the one part and George Whitlocke of the other part, Witness: That the said John North executor as aforesaid of Robert Burton deceased by virtue of the power and authority for that purpose specially given to and vested in him by the last Will and Testament of his said Testator, hath put, placed and bound, and by these presents doth put, place and bind a certain negro boy slave named Richard as an apprentice to the said George Whitlocke, and as an apprentice to dwell with and serve him the said George Whitlocke from the eleventh day of March 1819 until the eleventh day of March 1823 being a period of four years. And the said George Whitlocke on his part doth hereby Covenant, and agree to, and with the said John North executor as aforesaid of Robert Burton deceased to have the said negro boy Richard during the term of his apprenticeship as aforesaid well and truly instructed in the art, and mystery of a Carpenter and to use all due diligence during said period to make the said negro boy Rich-
