Brunswick District to wit, William McTyiere [McTyre] complains of John Ussory [Ussery] junr. in custody &c. of a plea that the said Ussory the defendant render to him the following negroe slaves, to wit, Betty of the value of one hundred pounds, Leza of the value of one hundred pounds, Nancy of the value of one hundred pounds, Winny of the value of one hundred pounds, Milly of the value of one hundred pounds, Charlotte of the value of one hundred pounds, Biddy of the value of one hundred pounds, Lucy of the value of one hundred pounds, and Henry of the value of one hundred pounds which the said defendant unlawfully detains from him the said plaintiff; for that whereas the plaintiff on the [blank] day of [blank] in the County of Lunenburg and within the Jurisdiction of the Superior Court holden for the District consisting of Brunswick Mecklenburg, Lunenburg and Greensville Counties was seized & possessed of all and several the aforesaid negro slaves as his property, & held the same as his property according to Law, and afterwards to wit on the [blank] day of [blank] in the County of Lunenburg the plaintiff ^ casually lost the said negro slaves out of his possession, and afterwards tp wit on the [blank] day of [blank] in the County of Lunenburg aforesaid, the said negro slaves came by finding to the hands of the said defendant; and the said defendant altho' often required by the plaintiff to deliver up to him the said negroes, hath ^ hitherto refused to deliver the same, and doth still refuse to deliver the said negroes to the plaintiff, to the damage of the plaintiff ten thousand pounds, and therefore he brings his suit &c
