one Thomas Woodlief, then and there, that is to say, in the presence of the Court aforesaid, on the said 9th day of November, acknowledged themselves, by their certain writing obligatory sealed, with their seals an authentic copy of which is to the Court now here shewn, the date whereof is on the day & in the year aforesaid, to be held and firmly bound to the said Alexander Morrison Theodorick Bland, William Call & James Cocke, gentlemen then justices of the said County of Prince George, in the sum of money aforesaid to be paid to the said justices; to which payment well and truly to be made, they the said Thomas Morgan, the defendant, and the said Thomas Woodlief bound themselves jointly & severally, their heirs executors and administrators: With a condition annexed to the said writing obligatory and part thereof, in words, to this effect, "The Condition of the above obligation is such, that if the above bound Thomas Morgan, his heirs executors and administrators shall well and truly pay and deliver or cause to be paid and delivered, unto Samuel and Sarah Peniston" (which said Samuel is the Same Samuel for whose benefit this suit is brought") or [orphans]
