In Alexandria County Court, July Term 1867. Edward Sawler applied to this Court to become a citizen of the United States, and it appearing to the Court that said Edward Sawler declared his intention more than two years ago, before the Clerk of the said Court in the office to become a citizen of the United States; and it further appearing to the Court by the oaths of Samuel Beach and Joseph Colton that said Edward Sawler has resided for the continued term of five years within the United States, and within the State of Virginia one year at least, next preceding his said application; that he is a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same; the said Edward Sawler declared on oath that he will support the Constitution of the United States, that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the same; and that he doth absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, State, or Sovereignty, whatever, and particularly to Victoria Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Ireland Thereupon the said Edward Sawler is admitted to become a citizen of the United States,
