Gentlemen: I presented the petition to Judge Thompson this day - Sheffey not having seen Lilly..  The judge makes this endorsment [endorsement] which I think will justify you in proceeding to sell

“July 24th 1862 - I have no power to make the  [illegible] [illegible] for by the within petition in vacation.  If it were term time I would do so without hesitation. I would advise all concerned to do by consent, before the Term, what I would direct to be done if the court were in session“  Signed Lucas P Thompson
