Sorugetow Va August 6th 1852 Mrs. Mohler [Maaud?] I seat myself to drop you a line on a subject that is not at all pleasant to me nor do I suppose that it will be any more so to your self that is to say in regard to the Burial Expenses of your son Wm M Harvest Dec.d I presented my bill to Mr Newton and he says that he will not pay it from the fact that it was unnesesary to remove the corps to Midway Augusta Co and that the Expense of Removal &c must be paid by the person’s who caused it to be removed and my only resource is to you as you were the one who told me to Make a case for the coffin and Remove it to Augusta County My bill against the estate is $50 dollars which Newton refuses to pay and says he does so for 2 reasons one allready stayed and the other was that you had told him the bill was too high I can not believe this at all from the fact that you know what kind of coffin I made and that I had to travel all night Now here is a list of expenses as incured and for which I have receipts For trimings bought of R J Morgan and Co 6 yds velvet at 3/5 5.25 For 4 yds white flance at 3/9 2.50 5 yards lace at 1/- 83 1/3 2 bolts Tape 4 13 2 papers Tacks and 100 brass nails 38 [subtotal] $9.09 Paid Harris and Mitt for coffin case 10.00 Paid A S Estes estate for house hire 8.00 Paid A G Pawplin for use of wagon 2 50 [subtotal] 29.59 Caried over
