I have long since been convinced in my own mind, that God who have divided the earth among one children of men, have designed that Ethiopia shall dwell in this part of the earth I long to see a potion at least of this vast country inhabited by an industrous christian proper from the United States, for my own part I have lived in the country for 13 years and have never had cause to regret for one moment of having chosen my residence in this land, nay I bless God that my lot have been casted in these ends of the earth, I learn with deep regret by Mr Erskine of the death of your beloved son William Rose joins me in the most hearty condolences with your self and family please remember us both very kindly to Ms Purley and the children. In regard to Arlington be kind enough to write and inform us particular in regard to the peace whether Mrs Lee is there etc etc You will confer a great favour on us by informing us in regard to the old people of Arlington particular my dear old mother who I have not heard from for a long time. If there is any thing that I can do for the society at any time I should be happy to do so. Please write by every opportunity and believe me most truly your friend and brother Wm. C. Burke
