This Indenture made the 21st day of February in the year 1855. between Mary Emily Lupton of the County of Warren the Mother of John Wesley Lupton free negro an Infant under the age of fourteen Years of the one part and J H McKay of Said County of the other part. Witnesseth that the Said Mary E Lupton by and with the allowance & consent of the County Court of Warren County by an order of Said court made at January Court 1855 in pursuance of the statue in that case made & provided, has put & placed & by these presents does put & place the Said John Wesley Lupton the child of the Said Mary E Lupton aged Ten years in Sept Last, apprentice to the Said J H McKay with him to dwell & serve from the day of the date of these presents until Said apprentice shall accomplish his full age of twenty one years and the Said Mary E Lupton for herself, her heirs Execrs & admrs does hereby covenant promise & agree to & with the said J H McKay his Executors & admrs that he the Said John Wesley Lupton the said J H McKay his Master shall & will faithfully serve in all lawfull business according to his power wit & ability & honestly orderly & obediently in all things [demean?] & behave himself towards his said master during the said term of apprenticeship & the said J H McKay for himself his heirs Exectrs & administrators does covenant promise & agree to & with the Said Mary E Lupton her Executors & admrs by these presents that the Said J H McKay shall & will teach & instruct the said John W Lupton or cause him to be taught & instructed in the art trade & mystery of a Farmer in the best way & manner that he can during the said term & shall & will during all the term aforesaid
