This indenture made the 21st day of Febuary in the year 1855. between Mary Emily Lupton of the county of Warren the mother of John Wesley Lupton free negro an infant under the age of fourteen years of the one pact and JHM Kay of said county of the other [pact?]. Witnessith that the said Mary E Lupton by and with the allowance and consent of the county court of [Warren?] county by an order of said court made at January court 1855 in pursuance of the statue in that case made and provided has put and placed and by there presents [illegible] put and placed the said John Wesley Lupton the child of the said Mary E Lupton aged ten years in Sept last apprentice to the said JHM Kay with him to dwell and serve from the any of the date of these presents until said apprentice shall accomplish his full age of twenty one years and the said Mary E Lupton in herself, her heirs execrs and admrs does hereby covenant promise and agree to and with the said JHM Kay his executors and admrs that he the said John Wesley Lupton the said JHM Kay his master shall and will faithfully serve in all lawfull business according to his power wit and ability and honestly orderly and obediently in all things [illegible] and behave himself toward his said master during the said term of apprenticeship and the said JHM Kay for himself his heirs exectrs and administrators does covenant hencewise and agree to and with the said Mary E Lupton her exectrs and admrs by these presents that the said JHM Kay shall and will teach and instruct the said John W Lupton or cause him to be taught and instructed in the act trade and mystery of a [lumer?] in the best way and manner that he can during the said term and shall and will during all the term aforesaid
