My dear Mrs. Cowles: - 
Mrs. Shuler has just written that Va has asked for either Miss Shuler or me and that I have been assigned there for the end of July, and for August. I am writing her again to know if this really is correct, as the work Mrs. Whitner and I were planning I am afraid cannot be done quite so well in August as in September, and I had hoped September would be the time Mrs. Shuler would let me be here. Or did you ask particularly for time in August? I could be reached July 17th and 18th in care of Mrs. Whitner. 

Mrs. Whitner and I will probably be in Richmond about the 21st, and I have asked her if we [illegible] call at headquarters then to see you all and talk a bit. My assignment in N.C. will be over then. Please save letters for me if Mrs. Shuler addresses any in your care - Hoping to see you all soon, Mary Elizabeth Pidgeon
