Be it enacted by the General Assembly, that it shall be lawful for, and authority is hereby given to Nicholas Cleary of the State of Wisconsin, or to his agent and attorney in fact, acting for him and in his name, to sell the slave Margaret and to receive the [lives] thereof, belonging to his infant son Thomas Reilly Cleary; and any sale of the said slave Margaret, made by the said Nicholas Cleary, or by his agent and attorney in fact, acting for him and in his name, shall be valid in law to vest a fee simple title and estate in and to the purchase of said slave Margaret.
