VIRGINIA LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS Room #2 Grace Securities Building, Richmond, Va. May 1st, 1926 Dear Chairman:- Yesterday I wrote you some impressions of the Convention, for what is a delegate for, if not, in addition to representing her organization on the floor, to bring back to those at home as much of the Convention as possible? I wish that I could give you also the inspiration of hearing those women, whose names we know through the public press, discussing our program, familiar to us all, and discussing our finance plan sent us by Miss Ludington, which is becoming familiar to us and showing itself more and more workable. The accounts which they gave of their methods of carrying out these plans dealt in thousands of dollars where we deal in hundreds, but they seem to have some of the same difficulties and meet them in the same way that we try to meet them. The plan for "Finance Organization" and for "Every Member A Money Raiser" is turning out to be so effective, so workable and at the same time so simple that one keeps wondering why we have gone on so long in the old awkward hand-to-mouth- methods of financing organizations---why has not someone thought of it before? That is always so with a big idea - it always seems the inevitable idea once it has been thought of. But the thing is, in this case, that not only has Miss Ludington worked out a plan that has the effectiveness and simplicity of genius, but that she has had the ability to stimulate other people's imagination till they have seen it too.
