Rosey Beveans This indenture made 10th day of [Feby?] in the year 1860 between E. J. W. Read Overseer of the poor of the County of Accomac of the one part and Joseph Waterfield of said County farmer of the Other part, Witness, That the said E. J. W. Read Overseer of the poor as aforesaid, acting with the allowance and approbation of the County Court of Accomac County, and in pursuance of an Order of the said Court to that effect, Made and entered on the 26th day of September 1859, have put and bound and do by these presents put and bind, Rosey Beaveans a free Negress of said County who was one year eight months and eleven days old on the date of the above Order as an apprentice to Joseph Waterfield until she arrives to the age of Eighteen years, to be taught the duties of a house Servant and with him to dwell and remain and serve until she the said Rosey Beaveans shall attain her full age of Eighteen Years, during all which time she the said Rosey Beaveans her Master faithfully shall serve and obey, his secrets keep and his lawful Commands Willingly do and perform, and shall Not absent herself from the service of her said Master day or Night without his leave but shall in all things as a faithful apprentice behave herself towards her Master and all his family during the said term. And the said Joseph Waterfield in Consideration of the faithful service to be performed by the said Rosey Beaveans doth hereby Covenant, promise and agree with the said Overseer and his successors in office, that he the said Joseph Waterfield, his said apprentice in the trade, art and Mystery of a house servant which he now useth shall and will teach and instruct or Cause to be taught and instructed, in the best Manner that he can, and shall and Will allow and provide unto said apprentice during all the said term, Competent and,
