The deposition of Thomas Poone taken at Halifax Co Ho Virginia in the Court house of Halifax County (in pursuance of notice) on the 24th day of april 1858- to be read as evidence on behalf of the plaintiff on the trial of a suit in chancery now pending in the Circuit Court of Halifax in which Samuel Pate Admr of Absalom Pate dec'd is plaintiff and Robert Moore is defendant. VA Answer: Absalom Pate, deceased, a son of Samuel Pate of Halifax County Virginia and Robert Moore of the same county and state, were boath engaged in the purchase and sale of negroes, in the fall of 1857 being partners in said business under the firm and style of Pate and Moore, as they both admitted to me at that time.
