To the honble. the Speaker & Gentlemen of the House of Delegates The petition of Peter Copeland Humbly sheweth that year Petitioner had a Slave condemned for felony by the County Court of Charles City the 4th of April 1781 and agreeable to said Sentence was executed. The sd. Slave being previously valued to three thousand pounds for which payment your Petitioner has applied to the Auditors of Public accts. which they refuse to settle your Petitioner. Therefore pry that your honble. House would [illegible] your Consideration and grant him such relief as you in your Wisdom shall think reasonable and your Petitioner as in duty bound shall ever pray &c
