closer to front now than I have ever been before. and believe we will go closer still in a few days. Because we havent done anything since we have been here and I think that they are waiting for orders to move but I never know what they are going to do. Saw the antiaircraft guns firing on [aeroplanes] today but I have seen that before. you certainly can hear the guns firing here.
Some of the boys are talking about getting jobs and staying over a while after the war is over, but I cant see what in the world anyone wants to stay in this country although I would give most anythig now if I could speak french, but these people talk so fast that I dont believe I ever would learn it.
