Know all men by these presents, that we A. V. Sommers, A. E. Sommers, J. Wallace Sommers, A. H. Sommers, and S. L. Sommers heirs at law and distributees of Susannah Sommers, late of Alexandria County and State of Virginia deceased, being desirous of avoiding delay, trouble and expense in the settlement of the estate of said deceased, have made, and by these presents do make the following division of the Slaves belonging to said estate, to wit:
Mahaly and her two youngest Children Mary and William are hereby set apart and granted unto A. V. Sommers, her executors, administrators, and assigns, forever, at the total valuation of one thousand and fifty dollars;
Lucy, daughter of Mahaly, is hereby set apart and granted unto A. E. Sommers, her executors, administrators and assigns forever, at the valuation of four hundred and fifty dollars;
Lewis, son of Mahaly, is hereby set apart and granted unto A.H. Sommers, her executors, administrators, and assigns forever, at the valuation of Seven hundred dollars.
And John, son of Mahaly, is hereby set apart and granted unto S.L. Sommers, his executors, administrators and assigns, forever, at the valuation of Seven hundred dollars, and all of said slaves are divided in accordance with the valuation set upon them by James M. Benton, B.F. Shreve, Wesley Carlsn and Richard Southern, on the third day of August A.D. eighteen
