This Indenture made this thirtieth day of November in the year eighteen hundred and nine Between James Brooks late of the city of Richmond in the state of Virginia, now of the Town of Alexandria in the District of Columbia, Inn Keeper of the first part, Colin Auld and John Hooff of the same Town of Alexandria of the second part, and Jacob Hoffman, John and Thomas Nawell, Hugh Smith, George Denealy, Cuthbert Powell,, John Muncaster, James H. Hooe, Philip G Marsteller,, John Ramsay, Faxon Metcalf and Company, John Roberts, Trueman Brashears, William Newton and Charles Bennett of the Town of Alexandria aforesaid, of the Third Part, Witnesseth, that whereas the several persons last above mentioned of the third part, have indorsed as the Surities of the said James Brooks according to the usual mode of carrying on the business of discount for accommodation in the Bank of Alexandria, nine several promissory notes negotiable in the said bank bearing date the twentieth day of November eighteen hundred and nine, and payable fifty four days after date, the aggregate amount whereof is Two thousand one hundred and twenty two dollars, the order and manner in which the said notes are indorsed by the several persons aforesaid will more fully appear, reference being had to the said notes and the respective indorsements thereon, as the same one held by the officers of the said
