This Indenture made this the 23rd of February 1836 Between George Wise of the Town of Alexandria in the District of Columbia, of the one part, and Christopher Neale, of the same Town & District, of the other part.  Witnesseth that the said George Wise, in consideration of the respect and affection which he feels for his daughter in law Sirrah Ann Wise, and of the sum of one dollar to him the said George Wise in hand paid by the said Chr: Neale, of which the receipt is hereby acknowledged has granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said Chr. Neale, a certain negro woman named Nelly, a slave for life, aged about forty five years.  To hold the said slave for life, to the said Chr. Neale, his heirs or assigns forever.
