This Indenture made this twelth Day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Eight Between Robert Scott of the one part, Benjamin Haden of the second part, and James Deering of the third part, all of the County of Campbell, Witnesseth, that whereas the said James Deering hath become bound as Security for the said Robert Scott in a Certiorare Bond executed by them on the 9th ninth Day of November 1807 to Thomas S. Holloway administrator of John Mitchell Jun'r. deceased to remove the Proceedings in a certain Suit in [Detinue?] now depending in the County Court of Spotsylvania wherein the said Thomas s. Holloway administrator as aforesaid of the said John Mitchell Jr deceased is Plaintiff and the said Robert Scott is Defendant, to the District Court appointed by Law to be holden at Franklin Court House, as will more fully appear by Reference to the said Bond in the penalty of twelve hundred pounds conditioned as the Law directs; & whereas the said Robert Scott is willing and desirous more effectually to secure and assure the said James Deering and his Representatives, against all injury, and to indemnify and save him & them harmless, on account of said Securityship; now to that End Intent & purpose, and for and in Consideration of the Sum of one Dollar to him in Hand paid by the said Benjamin Haden at and before the Sealing and Delivery of these Presents, the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, he, the said Robert Scott hath granted bargained, sold aliened, enfeoffed & confirmed, & by these presents doth grant bargain, sell, alien enfeoff and confirm, to the said Benjamin Haden
