This Indenture made and entered into this 4th day of Jun in the year of Our Lord one Thousand and eight hundred and fourteen between Archelaus Gilliam of the first part James Russell of the second part and John Hay of the third part all of the County of Campbell & state of Virginia, Witnesseth that Whereas the said Archelaus Gilliam is Justly indebted to the aforesaid James Russell in the sum of Four hundred and Eighty Dollars Current money due and payable by bond on the 13th day of June 1815 and the said Archelaus Gilliam being willing to secure the payment of said sum of money to the said James Russell his heirs or assigns as well as for the further Consideration of the sum of One Dollar to him in hand paid by the said John Hay the receipt of which he doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents
