This Indenture made the twenty fifth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Seventy One between George Garland of the County of Richmond of the one part and Edmond Wilson Gent of the county of Amherst of the other part Witnesseth that the sd [said] George Garland and Edmond Wilcox for and in consideration of the Sum of forty pounds Current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the sd Edmond Wilcox at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof the sd George Garland does acknowledge and thereof does for himself his Exors & adminirs release and accquit the sd Edmond Wilcox his Exors & adminr forever by these presents have bargained sold and delivered and by these presents doe bargain & sell & deliver unto the sd Edmond Wilcox his heirs Exors Adminr & assigns a Negroe Wench named Chloe to have & to hold the sd Chloe and her future increase unto the sd Edmond Wilcox his heirs Exors and admrs forever to the only proper use and behoof of the sd Edmond Wilcox his heirs Exors admrs & assigns and by these ^presents^ Covenant grant and agree to and with the sd Edmond Wilcox his heirs Exors admrs & assigns that he the sd George Garland doe warrant the sd Slave Chloe unto the sd Edmond Wilcox his heirs Exors Admr & assigns and against all other person will forever warrant and defend in Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Seal the day and year above written.
