Franklin Co. Mo. Decr. 11th 1852. Dear bro: yours of the 20th Ulto. came to hand to-day and I now hasten a reply. Through the goodness of Kind Providence we are in moderate health and hope when these reach you they may find you and all our relatives in the possession of the same inestimable blessings for be assured that if we had all the gold of Ofer and all the [illegible] on a thousand hills, and were destitute of this one blessing they would profit us nothing: if therefore becoming as to endeavor to gain the favor (so to speak) of Him from whom we receive not only the good things of this life but from whom we may in the world to come receive ever lasting life I was much rejoiced to hear through some of the letters of the great revival which took place at Dan-river Church, and when I found yourself not among the number of converts, I was indeed much grieved: yet I do not despair, but wait with patience the Lord's own time; being fully assured of this fact; " that if we will lie in the use of the appointed means of the Gospel we shall surly reap if we faint not". I hope my dear bro that you are still striving, and I hope and believe you have fully resolved never to give over till you receive that for which you have so long been seeking. We must let go ever other hold. We must feel the need of a Savior.
