I Raphael Conn of the county [page torn] and state of Virginia do hereby make and bequeath this as [page torn] last will and testament, to receive no other Construction than the [page torn] words warrant. Firstly - I give and bequeath to my Brother James Conn during his natural life a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Page (which said land I purchased of John Strayer as agent for Longstreet & Co.) and after the death of my brother James Conn, is is my will and desire that my Nephew Raphael Conn, have and possess the said land to himself, and his heirs forever, free from the claim of all and any person or persons whatsoever. Secondly - I give and bequeath to my Niece Mary Conn the tract of land whereon I now live, (together with all the buildings and improvements thereon) to herself and her heirs forever, and the lott of land near the property of the Miss Whitings. Thirdly - I give and bequeath, the land and improvements on Mill Run called Hamburg, whereon I formerly lived, to my nephew Raphael Conn, to himself and his heirs forever. Fourthly - I give and bequeath to my nephew James Conn a Certain tract or parcel of land lying in the state of Illinois containing one hundred and sixty acres, to himself and his heirs forever. Fifthly - I do hereby emancipate and set free forever all my slaves to wit, Bill, Elizabeth, Sophia, Nelson, John, Lucy, Evelina, Thom, Maria, Ann, Martin, Henry, Dan, Jackson, Isabella, Milly, Betsey and if any dispute shall hereafter arise about the Construction of this Clause of my will, it is my intention that the plain words shall be taken as my meaning. Sixthly - I do hereby give and bequeath to my niece Mary Conn a portion of my household and kitchen furniture amounting to three hundred dollars, the two Cows and a Colt which I have heretofore given her and the choice of my horses. Seventhly - It is my will and desire, that after deducting the amount of three hundred dollars out of my personal Estate which in a preceding clause I have given my Niece Mary Conn, that the the remainder of all my personal shall be sold and applied to the payment of my debts, and that the rents due on the Hamburg property and the Crops already made & those now in the ground shall be sold and applied to the payments of my debts.
