In the fall 1792 I brought up from [illegible] Cty thirty [illegible] pounds which was due Philip B. Matthews from his fathers estate and William Matthews borrowed twenty four pounds of said money among which there was one [illegible] dollars returned I also heard William Matthews say several times that he kept Philip B. Matthews money in his hands for he believed that any smart sensible man might fool him and of it Mrs. Sarah Matthews replied yes they might for she could fool poor Phil out of everything he had and so might any body else that was smart. The above affidavit was sworn to before me this 13th day of May 1808. [illegible] [illegible]
