Mr William Woodruff Executor of Benjamin Woodruff Dc'd Sir you will please to take notice that we shall at Chester Court house Chester District in the state of South Carolina on Friday the fifteenth day of February next between the hours of sun rise & set of the same day proceed to take the depositions of Benjamin Rives & Francis Jordan & perhaps of others for the purpose of preserving & perpetuating their testimony in our behalf according to our bill in a suit now existing in our names against yourself & others in the County Court of Greensville Virginia the object of which is among other things to perpetuate the said testimony to be used in any form which may occur in relation to the title to the slaves (in the said suit in Chancery now existing) mentioned agreeable to a Commission obtained by us for that purpose from the said County Court of Greensville at the December Term there of 1827 & if from any cause we should fail to obtain the said depositions on that day we shall continue from day to day to take the same untill they are obtained when and where you may attend if you please.
