Smith, a Justice of the Peace in and for the City of Lynchburg State of Virginia hereby certify that Polly Davis, Jack Pleasants, Sally Mason, Martha Ann [Grismen?], Milly Tates, Mary Davis & William Davis & Jesse Mason whose names are signed to the foregoing writing bearing ]illegible] the 11th day of December 1865 personally appeared me in my City aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be their act and deed. Smith, a Justice of the Peace for the City of Lynchburg and state Virginia hereby certify that Sally Mason the wife of Jesse Mason whose named are signed to the foregoing writing bearing date 11th day of Dec. 18665 personally appeared before in my City aforesaid and acknowledged the same. I further certify that the said Sally Mason was examined by me [privily?] and apart from her said husband and having the said deed explained to her she declared that she had willingly executed the same and did not wish to restart it. Given under my hand this 13th day of Feb.1866.
