She was afflicted with very severe inflammation of the eyes and great intolerance of light, [illegible] a curvature of the spine and partial paralysis of the lower extremities. Quest by Same. From her appearance when you first saw her do you think that the disease was in its first stage, or that she had been afflicted with it for some time previous? Ans. I think she must have been afflicted with the disease for some time previous, from the extent to which it had progressed when I saw her. Ques. by Comr. From the Condition of the Girl when you first saw her Do you think she required any special Nursing to render her Comfortable previous to that time? Ans. I think it probable she did though I cannot say for what length of time. Ques by Plts Counsel. Did the disease with which she was laboring under progress rapidly or not? Ans. Not more so than usual Ques by Comr. Did she die with the disease under which she was laboring? Ans. She did. And further this Deponent Saith not R. E. Nelson Fluvanna County to Wit.
