This Indenture made this 12th day of February 1843 between Nelson S. Shelton of the first part, Daniel M. Harris of the second part and Sarah J. Shelton the wife of said Nelson S. Shelton, of the third part. Witnesseth, that whereas the said Sarah J. is entitled to her contingent right of dower in and to the lands of the said Nelson S. Shelton consisting of two tracts lying and being in the County of Nelson, one containing six hundred acres more or less, the other containing five hundred acres more or less. also one moiety of two hundred acres more or less lying and being in the same County and held jointly with Samuel H. Shelton, which lands the said Nelson S. wishes to use and appropriate disincumbered of said right of dower; and where as it hath been agreed by the said Sarah J. Shelton and by the said Daniel M. Harris in her behalf that she shall relinquish according to law all right of dower in and to said lands upon receiving a reasonable equivolent therefor. And it being agreed that the sum of nine hundred dollars is a just & reasonable sum to be given to the said Sarah J. Shelton as a compensation for the said right. And the said Nelson S. Shelton being willing to pay the same: and in lieu of money to convey to her separate use the property hereinafter mentioned. Now in consideration thereof and to effect this purpose and in consideration of the sum of one dollar in hand paid to the said Nelson S. Shelton before the sealing and delivery of these presents by the said Daniel M. Harris
