January 1863 - Entitled an Act allowing Sarah T Thornton to remove certain Slave from this State to North Carolina on the Petition of Sarah T Thornton - relict of Richard Thornton [court?] in pursuance of the Act of Assembly passed 230. She is authorized to remove the following slaves held by her for life to Granville County North Carolina the salves of the said Richard Thornton to wit Eliza a woman about forty Six years of age Horace a man about twenty-eight years of age. Billey Brown a man about sixty six years of age. A Woman Mira about thirty five Years of age, & her two children, a Girl named Eliza about four years of age a Boy named Jno Bill about two years old. a negro Girl named Ritter about six years old. the court requiring the said Sarah t. Thornton to file a list of the said negroes with the clerk of this Court with a description of the same & the court further requires that the said Sarah T. Thornton shall annually report to this Court a list of said slaves & any increase thereof, and the said Sarah T. Thornton shall not be permitted to remove the said slaves to any County in the State of North Carolina other than the said County of Granville. But the said Sarah Thornton shall not be permitted to remove the said slaves to Granville County North Carolina till after she shall have Executed Bond payable to the Commonwealth
