Aug 28th 54 To the Circuit Court of Halifax County Pursuant to a decree of the Circuit Court of Halifax County rendered on the 10th day of May 1854 in a suit in Chancery depending in said Court in which Leonard Carlton and Alexander Dudley as adm'r of Elizabeth & 5 T. H. Crittenden are plaintiffs and William Dews as adm'r of Elizabeth Hart dec'd. Elisha Barksdale adm'r of Isaac Hart dec'd Josiah Owen adm'r of [blank] his wife Toliver Trent Nathaniel M. Lovelace and Elizabeth his wife and William W. McHaney and Catharine his wife are defendants the undersigned Commissioner of said Court to whom was referred for settlement by said decree an account to be rendered by said William Dews of the hires of the slaves in the proceedings mentioned from the death of Elizabeth Hart until they should be delivered up as directed in said decree begs leave to report that on the 15th of June 1854 he issued Notices to the parties resident in the state which were duly returned executed or acknowledged by the parties, or their Counsel & that he notified the nonresident parties by publication in the "Danville Register" for four weeks previous to the time of taking said account that the said account would be taken on the 24th day of July 1854 at the office of Mr Geo.
