one Dabney Ragland on the [blank] day of March 1852 the tract of land devised by the said Lucy Boxley to the children of Eliza E Fourqurean for the sum of $2450.00, but respondent denies that the said Danl W. Fourqurean Exor. received the purchase money for said land, or any part thereof: The facts in relation said being as follows: Soon after the death of Lucy Boxley, to wit: at the [blank] term of the County Court of Halifax County, Wm. T. Fourqurean qualified as guardian of the children of Eliza E. Fourqurean: the said land was not sold for cash, but the purchaser executed his three bonds for the purchase money, one for $850. payable Jany 1st 1853, one for $800. payable Jany 1st 1854, & one for $800. payable Jany 1st 1855. Said bonds were all made payable to W.T. Fourqurean guardn of said children & were afterwards collected by him, as will more fully appear by reference to said bonds filed as exhibits with the deposition of J.P. Ragland in this cause. Respondent further answering admits the death of Daniel W Fourqurean in 1854, and that it appears from the records of the Clerks office of the County Court of Halifax County, that the said W.T. Fourqurean qualified as his admr at the Decr term of said Court 1854, & entered into bond for the faithful discharge of his duties in the penalty of $6500. with the said Wm. L. Owen & Thos E. Owen as his sureties, but respondent denies that the said Danl W. Fourqurean Exor ever
