Lynchburg July 26th 1853 Dr. Sir, I duly recd. yours of the 15th inst. Having kept no records of the amo. of hires recd. for been [Ben], I am unable to give an accurate statement of them. I took a rect. at the and of each year when it was paid over, but those are mislaid. As well as I now remember the hire recd. annually for Ben for the years 1837 to 1847 inclusive was about sixty Dollars. For the year 1847 which was I think, the last year I collected his hire, the price recd. was fifty Dollars, and I think that was what he hired for, for several, years. The hire for one year. perhaps 1841, which was sixty Dolls., was never collected, and regarded as lost. The parties owing it Stiger & Nash having taken the benefit of the Bankrupt law. I should have replied to your note sooner, but having waited trying to see Ben who would probably remember more accurately than I do to whom he was hired and at at what price, but I have not been able to see him. Yours Most Respectfully. Geo. W. Turner
