I Joseph Stewart of the County if Wilson and State of Tennessee do nominate, constitute and appoint my son William Stewart of the County and State aforesaid my true and lawful Attorney in fact for me and in my name to ask demand and receive from Robert Cox Esquire of Dinwiddie County in State of Virginia, who has collected for me as my attorney, my distributor share of the estate of Thomas Stewart - my father, late of said County of Dinwiddie now deceased. or from any other person having possession of or liable for the same, and any receipts bonds or other acquittances in my name, to execute, on the receipt of my said distributive share of the estate of said decd. or any part or portion of the same, and if necessary, sue for and recover the same and employ one or more attorneys under him at my expense and charge, and do and perform any other act or thing in premises necessary to accomplish the object of this power of attorney, hereby satisfying and conforming all that my said attorney may lawfully do in the premises as fully as I could or would do were I personally present and doing the same myself This 19th day of April 1842 Joseph Stewart seal Test Jas B Rutland James [Hibbetts?]
