At a Court of Oyer and Terminor summoned and held at the court house of Southampton County on the eighth day of Febuary 1839 for the trial of Jeff a negro man slave belonging to Nancy James of this county charged with ravishing Polly Oney a white female person of this county on the pubic highway on the evening of the 31st day of January last past near the farmers bridge in this county.
