Chapter 6. Only Brother
- Commonwealth’s attorney Edgar Montague (1862-1919). Edgar Edmonds Montague was born 7 December 1862 in Halifax County. He graduated with honors from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. After receiving his law degree from the University of Virginia, he moved to Hampton in 1882 to practice. He served as a judge and commonwealth’s attorney for Elizabeth City County and represented the county for three terms in the Virginia House of Delegates. Montague died on 2 July 1919 and is buried in St. John’s Cemetery in Hampton.
