SECRETARY OF EDUCATION
The Secretary of Education assists the Governor in the development and implementation of the state's education policy. The Education Secretariat provides guidance to the 16 public universities, the Virginia Community College System, five higher education and research centers, the Department of Education, and the state-supported museums. Dr. Thomas Morris served as Secretary of Education during Governor Timothy M. Kaine’s administration (2006-2010).
Per § 2.2-126 of the Code of Virginia, records of the Office of the Governor will be made accessible to the public after they have been processed by the Library of Virginia.
