Charles Wallace Transcribed "Just Like John"

Charles Montriou Wallace, Jr. (1866–1957) was an attorney and served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1897 to 1904. He wrote The Boy Gangs of Richmond and The History of the Capitol of Virginia. He had an anthropological interest in the music and verse of Virginia's black population and collected fragments of hymns and songs from antebellum days to the early twentieth century.
