The General Court Ordered Max Robinson to Pay Court Costs

This transcription of proceedings surrounding a suit against Maurice Cocke by Maximillian Robinson was recorded by the General Court of April 19 along with the court's order of December 23, 1692, for the sheriff of Essex County to seize payment from Robinson's estate. Robinson did not show up at the April court and therefore was ordered to pay the court costs. The proceedings are signed by Miles Cary (d. 1709), who was then clerk of the General Court. Cary was an influential man who held many offices over the course of his life, including member of the House of Burgesses and customs official for the York River.
